Surveyor of the Queen's Pictures (1988- ). For 20 years, Lloyd worked in the Department of Western Art of the Ashmolean Museum of Oxford. In 1972 he was appointed to a fellowship at Villa I Tatti, Harvard's Center for Renaissance Studies, in Florence. He served as visiting research curator of early Italian painting at the Art Institute of Chicago 19801981. He was made surveyor of the Queen's Pictures in 1988, with responsibility for 7,000 paintings and 3,000 miniatures.
